Centralia and its twin city Chehalis are Andy’s home base — the center of his guide operation and the gateway to the Chehalis River. Andy grew up in this area and has fished the surrounding waters his entire life. The Chehalis River flows right through town, and the Cowlitz River is just a short drive east on Highway 12.
Being centrally located in Lewis County gives Andy quick access to all four of his primary rivers. The Chehalis and Cowlitz are within 30 minutes, while the Lewis and Columbia Rivers are an easy drive south on I-5. This central location allows Andy to fish whichever system is producing the best on any given day.
What You Can Catch Near Centralia
Chehalis River Coho (October – December) — The Chehalis coho run is one of Southwest Washington’s best-kept secrets. Less boat traffic and aggressive fish make for outstanding fall fishing just minutes from town.
Winter Steelhead (December – March) — Both the Chehalis and Cowlitz produce excellent winter steelhead fishing. Andy picks the river with the best conditions on trip day.
Spring & Fall Salmon (April – November) — The Cowlitz offers strong spring chinook runs, while the Chehalis adds fall chinook and coho. Andy covers both rivers from this central base.

Centralia is at the intersection of I-5 and Highway 12, about 85 miles south of Seattle and 85 miles north of Portland — equidistant from both metro areas. As a 4th-generation Cowlitz Valley fisherman, Andy’s roots run deep in this community.
